I'm a finance lawyer based in Luxembourg advising on financial law and regulatory matters within banking and the capital markets sector. I grew up in Belgium and studied in Brussels, Ghent and Aberdeen before moving to the Grand Duchy. My thesis looked at liability issues arising from robots and AI. Even before I chose that as my subject, I'd always had a keen interest in new technologies (such as FinTech) and their interaction with the law. I'm sure the future lies in this area, and I feel lucky to be able to help startups, in this field and many others. It's especially exciting to be working in this area of law at DLA Piper, where the entrepreneurial spirit is given the place it deserves.
Outside of work, you're most likely to find me travelling to remote places such as Namibia, Armenia, Tahiti or Iceland, hiking, snorkelling and skiing, reading books by feminists (Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie) and other writers (Nabokov, Wilde, d'Ormesson or any biography) and taking pictures of my loved ones (which annoys some of them a lot).
